We decided to get an early start to Dream Pod 9’s  Annual Holiday Sale for 2020 today. With 15% OFF Jovian Wars spaceships, squads, parts, chibi, decals, dice, etc. from November 19th 2020 thru Midnight EST January 3rd 2021. We plan to announce more specials next week for US Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Here is a link to the Jovian Wars ordering page on the DP9 Online Store for those interested.

We still need entries for the Jovian Wars Golden Exo 2020 Painting Completion, so we’ve extended the deadline to Midnight EST December 30th 2020. Our next shipping day is planned for Friday November 27th and all orders received by the morning of Thursday Nov. 26th will ship that Friday.  So, get your Jovian Wars orders in this week to receive them in early December (for US & Canadian orders), then get painting, take photos and send in your entries. International shipping normally takes 3-4 weeks, but US/International Postal Services have been taking longer since Covid-19 has become the new normal in the world.

Then we’ll be on another 14 day quarantine after returning to Canada from the US Post shipping. Our next planned shipping after that is Friday December 18th 2020, one week before Christmas. Next shipping after that is planned for Friday January 8th 2021.

The Heavy Gear Fans and Online Community have been more supportive than we could possibly ask for! We have been able to grow the Heavy Gear Universe in ways that would not have happened without all your passion. With the release of Heavy Gear Blitz 3.0 fast approaching, we could not help but think of the Heavy Gear Roleplaying Game as well.
Dream Pod 9 has formed a development team made up of members of the DP9 Forum community. This team has been tasked with using their combined skills to create the 4th Edition of the Heavy Gear RPG, with 2nd edition as the starting point! Here are the community members that are a part of this team. You all will get a chance to get to know the team better as development continues.
  • LaBambaMan (Story writer)
  • Prof9844 (Technical Fluff)
  • Vaktathi (Mechanical rules guru)
  • Bigkiddave (Layout, Marketing and Social Media)
All team members will work together on all elements. So, while one has a title and that will be their main focus, they all take part in the meetings and discussions. There will also be different artists working with us and they will be introduced as the art is presented.
Starting this coming week we will begin the process of obtaining your input so that we can combine our vision with our community’s vision and create the best new edition possible! One of the ways we will be involving the community is with our Feedback Friday discussions. As we tell you more about the project, we will ask for your specific feedback on many aspects of the new edition. We want as much feedback as we can get for this project so do not hesitate to participate! You can get started right away in the discussion by posting your ideas, comments, and wish lists in the DP9 Forum thread linked below.
We will be using many different methods to obtain feedback including Facebook, Discord or YouTube livestreams, but the DP9 Forum will be the primary location for official news, updates and discussions so stay tuned!
Thank you again for being part of the Heavy Gear community and we look forward to growing the universe for you all to enjoy your adventures in it!

On this November 11th of a very difficult year, let us all remember those who sacrificed for our freedoms and please stay safe. Below is the poem “In Flanders Fields” written during World War I by Canadian physician Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae. In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up…

The 25th Anniversary of Dream Pod 9 is fast approaching. DP9 was originally the design team for Ianus Publications, publisher of Protoculture Addicts and Mecha Press magazines back in the 1990s and its gaming section, Ianus Games. But all that changed on December 6th, 1995 when Dream Pod 9 became a company. To commemorate the 25th Anniversary we designed a new embroidered patch, you can see a preview attached with the original artwork and first proof sample that was sent us for approval. The final production patches should have straighter merrowed edges and are expected back at the end of…

The response to the announcement of the development of Heavy Gear RPG 4th Edition has been awesome! Our team has been going over feedback from the community and using it to continue the development process. Thank you all for that feedback!
Today we are releasing an early draft of the mechanics for 4th Edition (pdf). As an early draft its purpose is to allow you as players to review what we have been working on and with the provided mockup of a character sheet (pdf) to test the mechanics as they stand.
Once you have run it through its paces, we would like your feedback. We want all your questions, comments, and concerns. We want to know what you liked as well. Make no mistake we want to know exactly what you as a community think. All the feedback will be reviewed, and we will use it to modify this draft, and repeat this process over the next few months. These rules are not yet complete nor refined, there are numbers to be massaged, concepts to be developed, mechanics to fill out still, and much remains open and subject to change and editing. However, this should give a good basic idea of where we’re aiming so far.
We’re still perfecting a number of features such as equipment, perk trees, certifications, and others. We will get those out in the near future.
Our overall goal is to align the visions of both the community and the development team to make the best product possible. In the end we, as a team, are a part of this community and want to create a game that we will also enjoy having adventures with!
We also want to share some of our scheduling plans today. We hope to have an alpha version of the Heavy Gear 4th Edition Rules ready to show in early January 2021. And with everyone’s help in playtesting and feedback to get it to beta version in the Spring. Then we’ll do a pre-layout to see the page count and what new artwork is needed. And start planning a Summer 2021 Kickstarter to pay for all the writing, layout, and new artwork, aiming for a late 2021 delivery.
Thank you all again for taking the time to help us reach this shared goal, feel free to click the link below to the thread on the DP9 Forum where you can download the pdfs and leave all your ideas, comments, and feedback!
